My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to jet off to the Dominican Republic in the Carribbean back in June for our summer trip. The Dominican Republic is hands down one of the most amazing and beautiful places I have been to date.
We stayed at Bahia Principe Punta Cana which is a stunning (not to mention massive) 4* family resort which backs right on to Bavaro beach. Prime location!!
The staff were amazing for recommending places to eat, excursions to go on and generally the atmosphere and vibe of the place was great. There were such a variety of people from all over the world lots of Americans visiting for their summer vacation others just for loud weekends away and fellow Brits who’d decided to venture a little further this year.
The beach and pool life was definitely for me.. sunning myself for hours a day, sipping cocktails and just being away from the stress and business of home life for 2 weeks = bliss. However we did decide to go on a few excursions over the course of the 14 days.
Saona Island was like nothing I’d ever seen before, beautiful sandy white beaches and the clearest blue sea. It was like somewhere you would only see in films. We took a day trip to the middle of the Carribbean sea, we rode on a speed boat to the island where we got to swim in the clear water and relax on their beach. We had a BBQ cooked for us by the ocean and a free supply of rum and beer for the few hours we were there. Then it was time to set sail home on a Catamaran which would take us 2 hours. The staff played authentic Dominican music and had everyone up to dance and you guessed it.. even more free rum! Hands down the day was an experience I will never forget.
Dune buggy riding was next on the agenda for later in the week. I don’t think I’ve ever had that much fun whilst getting plastered in dirt. We both got to take it in turns driving the buggy (the thought of me at the wheel petrified Ryan).. they took us around a dirt track for an hour of driving. Then the last stop was an old cave where we all got to take a quick dip in the water and snap some pics! That was the icing on the cake to top off the best morning!
It’s the nicest thing in the world to spend 2 weeks in paradise with your best friend making memories you’ll never forget. You really can’t put a price on that!!
